Pot Sizing Guide

Choosing the right pot size is key to ensuring your plants thrive. Here’s a guide to help you understand what to expect from our different pot sizes and how to care for your plants at each stage of growth.

1. 3-Inch Pots

What You’ll Get:

  • Plant Starts: These pots are ideal for young, freshly germinated plants or seedlings. They’re perfect for starting your garden or adding small plants to your space.

Care Tips:

  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Young plants have delicate roots that need careful watering.
  • Light: Ensure they get plenty of indirect light to help them grow strong.
  • Transplanting: As plants grow, they’ll need to be moved to larger pots or directly into the garden once they’ve developed a bit more.

2. 4-Inch Pots

What You’ll Get:

  • Established Starts: These pots are slightly larger and contain plants that have grown beyond the seedling stage. They’re more robust and ready to grow into larger spaces.

Care Tips:

  • Watering: Water regularly, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings.
  • Light: Provide ample sunlight or bright, indirect light.
  • Transplanting: These plants are more established, so you can move them to bigger pots or your garden with less stress.

3. Trade Half Gallon Nursery Pots

What You’ll Get:

  • Growing Plants: These pots are for plants that are well-established and have developed a more substantial root system. They’re in between the early and mature stages of growth.

Care Tips:

  • Watering: Maintain even moisture, but be cautious of overwatering. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings.
  • Light: Full sun or bright light will benefit these plants as they continue to grow.
  • Transplanting: They’re ready to be planted in larger containers or garden beds, making them a great choice for more immediate impact in your garden.

4. Trade Gallon Nursery Pots

What You’ll Get:

  • Mature Plants: These pots contain mature plants with extensive root systems. They are ready to make a significant impact in your garden or landscape.

Care Tips:

  • Watering: Regular watering is essential, but these larger pots are more forgiving. Ensure the soil has good drainage.
  • Light: Most mature plants prefer full sun or bright light, depending on the type.
  • Transplanting: These plants can be planted directly into larger garden spaces or containers and will continue to grow vigorously.

Understanding Pot Sizes:

  • Plant Starts: Young, newly germinated plants that need a nurturing environment to develop.
  • Established Plants: Plants that have grown beyond the seedling stage and are more resilient.
  • Growing Plants: Plants with a more developed root system, ready to transition to larger spaces.
  • Mature Plants: Well-established plants with extensive root systems, ready for immediate impact.
